Rounding out his media tour for this week’s Apple event, CEO Tim Cook has recorded a multi-part interview for the Charlie Rose Show. The first segment of the interview will air tonight, September 12, on PBS.

Excerpts of the interview posted to YouTube show Cook talking about the television industry, Steve Jobs, and the $3 billion Beats acquisition.

“TV is one of those things that if we’re really honest it’s stuck back in the 70s,” Cook said, while noting that Apple continues to have “great interest” in the space.

Cook also revealed that Apple has preserved Jobs’ office exactly as it was and left his name on the door.

In explaining why Apple purchased Beats, Cook noted that the company offered a combination of creative talent, a human-curated streaming service and a growing headphone business that would benefit from Apple’s global footprint.
