When using Snapchat, a user would have to press and hold on a Snap or Story to see what they wanted to see. Snapchat has apparently decided to nix those extra moments, though, in favor of getting to content even quicker.

On Wednesday, July 1, Snapchat took to its official blog and announced what it calls “Tap to View.” As one can gather from the title of the feature, it’s focused on accessing the content within Snapchat even faster. Now, instead of holding down on a Story or Snap, users simply tap the content and view what’s waiting for them. While getting to content is faster this way, it also means that a user doesn’t have to hold down their finger on a Story that’s quite long anymore, either:

“Today marks a pretty big change for Snapchat — you no longer have to press and hold the screen to view a Snap or Story — instead, simply Tap to View! This means no more tired thumbs while watching a several-hundred-second Story… and a little getting used to for anyone who has been Snapchatting for a while. We think you’re going to love it!“

That’s not all that Snapchat added, though. With “Add Nearby,” Snapchat will populate a list of nearby users utilizing the app. So, as the company puts it, if a group of people are hanging out together and they all open up Add Nearby in Snapchat, the feature will bring up a list of all their Snapchat handles, letting users add one another quickly.

Snapcodes are also getting an improvement, allowing users to add a selfie into the middle the Snapcode, hopefully making it easier for users to recognize other Snapchatters.

Finally, Snapchat also recently added two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security.
