I know someone will have a solution to my very small problem. I accidentally deleted “The Most Played” playlist–I think that is what it was called and was wondering how do I get that back?

You’re not the first person to accidentally delete an iTunes playlist and you most certainly won’t be the last. Fortunately, the issue can be corrected in short order. To restore your iTunes library’s playlists, start by exiting iTunes. Once you’ve closed the program, locate your iTunes folder. By default, the folder’s can be found at /Users/[your username]/Music. Once you’ve found the folder, open it up and look for a file callediTunes Music Library .xml, and drag it out of the folder on to your desktop. Next, move the iTunes Libraryfile to the Trash.

Restore iTunes Playlist

Now, open up iTunes. From iTunes’ Menu bar, select File > Library > Import Playlist. Doing so will open a file selection window. Use the window to navigate to the iTunes Music Library .xml file currently marooned on your desktop. BOOM! iTunes will automatically recreate your lost playlist.

If you decide to undertake this easy playlist fix, there’s just one thing to bear in mind: Make sure not to import any new content to your iTunes library until you’ve first imported the iTunes Music Library .xml file. Doing so will alter your iTunes music library, thus rendering the .xml file useless.
