Safari’s update for iOS 11 is filled with technology updates that mostly work behind the scenes. The Cross Site Tracking prevention feature, for example, will automatically block trackers for you.
But there are some new Safari features that will boost your productivity as well. Now, creating a PDF for any webpage, marking it up and sending it to someone is really easy.
How to Create a PDF from Web page
Step 1: Open any web page in Safari.
Step 2: Tap on the Share button to bring up the Share Sheet.
Step 3: Here, from the bottom row, swipe to the end of the sheet. You’ll see a new option called Create PDF. That’s what you’re looking for.
Step 4: When you tap on the Create PDF option, a new panel will slide up, containing the web page as the PDF. You’ll see the number of pages in the top-left corner.
Step 5: Tap on Done.
Step 6: You’ll get a new Save File to option. This will open iOS 11’s new Save to Files feature. Pick a source like iCloud Drive, find a folder and tap on Add to save the PDF to the designated folder.
How to Share the PDF
Step 1: When you’re viewing the PDF preview, tap on the Share button.
Step 2: You’ll see contextual options here, based on the apps you have installed. For instance, you’ll be able to attach the PDF to an email in Spark, or add it to Dropbox.
Step 3: The best way to actually save the PDF reliably is by using iOS 11’s new Save to Files extension. This option lets you save the PDF directly any folder to a linked source in the Files app. This can be iCloud Drive, Dropbox or even the Files app’s local storage.
How to Markup PDF
Right next to the Share button, you’ll find the Markup button. It’s denoted by the marker icon.
When you tap on it you’ll get to iOS 11’s Markup feature. From this screen, you can doodle over the PDF, add text, and annotations.
Once you’re done annotating, tap on Done and you’ll get back to the Preview screen. From here, you’ll be able to save or share the annotated PDF.
