Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are the latest flagship smartphones from the Android giant, featuring Quad HD displays and the latest Qualcomm and Exynos processors. The phones are good enough for Samsung to offer them as a replacement to the Galaxy Note 7, making them that much more crucial for the company and its customers.
However, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are not without their issues. While Samsung has been very quick in addressing issues with some of its most important phones over the last two years, some issues still linger on. In today’s post, we take a look at the most common Galaxy S7 (and S7 Edge) issues along with their fixes.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Issues and Fixes

Let’s take a look at some of the most common Galaxy S7 problems and fixes. Note that these problems and fixes apply to the Galaxy S7 Edge as well.

Galaxy S7 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity Issue

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity issues remain a common occurrence on smartphones even now. This is partly due to the wide range of routers and Bluetooth devices that people connect to, but there’s a good amount of user error as well as software bugs.

On the Galaxy S7, though, it may actually be due to a bug. Several users have reported that turning on Bluetooth affects Wi-Fi speeds, sometimes even causing Wi-Fi drops. Just having Bluetooth on seems to be causing Wi-Fi issues, regardless of whether you are connected to another Bluetooth device or not.

Thankfully, Samsung and Verizon and acknowledged and fixed the issue. Check for the latest software updates and install them.

However, if you are still facing Wi-Fi issues, you can try forgetting the Wi-Fi network. Reauthenticating seems to fix it more often than not. If that doesn’t help, you can try and reset your modem/router. Contact Samsung or your carrier if the issue still persists.

Galaxy S7 Camera Failed Error

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge come with a dual pixel 12 MP camera with OIS and support for 4K video recording. You can also record stunning slo-mo videos. But all that is meaningless if you cannot even use the camera.

Several users have reported that they can no longer use the camera app on their S7. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but you’ll need something permanent.

The solution to this problem is disabling Smart Stay. Smart Stay is a feature that uses sensors and the front camera to keep the display on when you are looking at the device.

Head over to Settings -> Display and toggle Smart Stay off.

Galaxy S7 Overheating Issues

Modern smartphones come with powerful processors and very high resolution displays. This means that your phone uses a lot of power and resources now. This causes the phone to heat, which is extremely normal and true for anything that uses power.

That being said, many users have reported overheating issues on their Galaxy S7. This becomes more apparent while gaming, especially the ones that are graphic-intensive. The only solution to this one is to let the device cool down (or it will turn off automatically once it reaches a certain temperature).

However, if you are witnessing overheating while the phone is charging, you may want to take a look at disabling fast charging. This will result in your phone taking a little longer to charge, though. You can disable fast charging by going to Settings -> Battery -> Fast Charging -> Off.
