A minor update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is now officially available, arriving as iOS 8.4.1.
The latest update to Apple’s mobile operating system is not very substantial, but it does fix a number of bugs that affected Apple Music, which made its debut with iOS 8.4 back in June.
iOS 8.4.1 resolves several other issues, including those that previously prevented users from turning on iCloud Music Library. Another previous issue, meanwhile, hid recently added music because Apple Music only showed offline music, but the update resolves this as well.
Moreover, the latest iOS 8.4.1 also fixes the issue that previously showed different artwork for an album on various devices. The update further brings some tweaks to iBooks, some essential bug fixes and some security enhancements. Apple has also posted some release notes so users can learn more about the security content of iOS 8.4.1.
The new update should make everything run more smoothly and eliminate some hiccups, and it’s now available for download for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad owners. To install iOS 8.4.1, access your devices Settings > General > Software Update and upgrade to the latest version, or connect your device to iTunes to get the latest software.
The bigger update, however, will debut next month as the iOS 9, bringing a slew of notable improvements. Apple first announced the next-generation iOS 9 back at its WWDC 2015 event and released the OS in beta back in July, giving a glimpse of what it has to offer.
Among the highlights, iOS 9 dramatically reduces the required storage size, weighing in at 1.8GB rather than the hefty 4.6GB iOS 8 takes up. This is a great improvement particularly for iOS device owners with smaller-capacity versions, as they will have more storage space left for their music, photos, media and so on.
The highly anticipated iOS 9 should become available sometime next month, with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus serving as its launch vehicles.
